About KARA:

KARA was started about 2 years ago under the pretense that the members would provide articles and report upon "What is Happening" in and around Kaslo and Area D. Initially, the KARA Board was all "Gung-Ho" about attending meetings and trying, in various ways, to "get-the-message-out" to its members and the public, but due to a lack of funding and the expense of publishing, we were limited in our attempts. Over the past year, and since the KARA AGM in May, 2007, not only was there little member support for KARA but the board was getting frustrated that we were unable to provide the members with a concrete method to fulfill our mandate.

This past year KARA has been working together with the Kaslo Info Net Society (in particular Michael Rogers - KIN President) to design and build a Community Web Site that would specifically address local issues and provide community content. This Web Site is now being published through Kaslo.org, and the concept is to have local 'editors' publish local acticles and content in their related 'field-of-expertise'. We hope to provide 'rich content' and 'timely articles' utilizing photo's, video and music from various sources throughout the Upper Kootenay Lake area and eventually capture world content too.

Kaslo.org is your community news outlet and inlet and the combined KARA/KIN initiative is our way of fulfilling the KARA Mandate. We hope that you utilize this site as your information source and as a way to provide articles and content of your choice. Please get involved, there is so much going on in Kaslo and Area D, if we can all 'stay-in-touch' and informed on local, regional, national and world issues, we will be better prepared and able to "ACT" when issues are affecting our Communities.

Yours truly,

John Addison and Randy Morse

(President & Vice-President of the Kaslo and Area D Resident's Association)
