Description | History
60 minutes north of Nelson, at the south end of beautiful Kaslo,
B.C., the Kaslo Golf Club has a beautiful 9-hole golf course,
a clubhouse complete with restaurant, and rents out equipment
and golf carts to the general public. So head for the Kaslo Golf
Club, it's well worth the trip!
Situated on the North Arm of beautiful Kootenay Lake in the West
Kootenay area of British Columbia, the Kaslo Golf Club offers
some unique enjoyments. One of the province's oldest golf courses,
it retains much of the basic charm of simpler times.
At the Kaslo Golf Club you will be impressed with the views on
each of the 9 holes. A panoramic lake view the full length of
the #1 fairway, and a glacier view on the 4th green will lead
you to the 5th fairway lined with hundred-year-old apple trees,
whose fruit you are welcome to enjoy in season.
Featuring basic fare as well as specialty items, the ViewPoint
Restaurant provides meals inside the Clubhouse. Enjoy your meal
or refreshments by the large stone fireplace, central to the display
of trophies dating back to the 1920s, or enjoy it on the outdoor
deck with a lake and mountain view that just won't stop (Don't
forget to bring your camera!).

Kaslo Golf Club History
The Kaslo Golf Club was started about 1923 when share certificates
were sold to the public for $100.00 each. Since that time, members
have given up their shares to the Village of Kaslo. The Club now
leases the property from the Village. When it started it was only
a 4 hole course, but in later years a major redevelopment occurred,
adding new land and reshaping the course. It grew slowly to its
present 9 holes thanks to the energetic volunteers who were willing
to provide the labour for its development. From its inception,
it was a popular course among the golfers of the West Kootenays.
As one of British Columbia's first golf courses, golfers travelled
from all around British Columbia to play a round of golf at the
Kaslo Golf Club.
A new clubhouse was built as well as a large, stone fireplace
which holds the trophies won by many of the Club's members. One
of the trophies is for the Kaslo Men's Rainbow Open Tournament,
which dates back to 1924, making it one of the longest running
tournaments in the Kootenays (if not British Columbia). A restaurant
was started, called the ViewPoint, which is still providing refreshments
for golfers today.
